Ant Hill makes good use of a compact shape. Wear it across your body or around your waist and keep the things you reach for close, without filling every pocket in your clothes.

Useful from every angle

Two exterior pockets handle the frequently needed things, while an inner pocket keeps other essentials tucked away. An external mesh stash adds another place for odds and ends, and the internal key hook stops your keys joining the general muddle.

Fabrics

  • Outer: 16 oz, 100% cotton canvas, containing up to 40% reclaimed cotton fibres.
  • Lining: 8 oz cotton canvas, containing up to 80% reclaimed cotton fibres.
  • Plant-based stiffening gives the bag its structure.
  • The outer canvas is REACH compliant.

Rain resistance

A light rain-resistant treatment encourages water to bead on the canvas during everyday showers. The bag is not waterproof: heavy or prolonged rain can penetrate the fabric, particularly around seams and openings.

Care

  1. Remove all detachable straps and components.
  2. Hand washing is best. For machine washing, use a delicate cycle at 30°C maximum.
  3. Place the bag inside a pillowcase or delicates bag when machine washing.
  4. Use gentle detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
  5. Reshape after washing and leave to dry naturally.

Refreshing the finish

Repeated washing may soften the colour and reduce the rain-resistant finish. Refresh when needed with a suitable wipe-on canvas wax or solid canvas wax. Follow the treatment maker’s instructions.

Is the bag waterproof?

Our unique water-repellent treatment is applied to the outside canvas, offering rain protection for your daily adventures. The process helps your Cora + Spink backpack withstand normal “rainy” weather conditions without compromising the feel of the canvas. For the more adventurous among you, the canvas can be refreshed with wax treatments, keeping your backpack ready for anything. Regular use may require a top-up to maintain properties, especially if you’re outdoors a lot. We’re here to help, contact us for any tips on keeping your bag ready!

How much weight can the bag carry?

Each Cora + Spink backpack is crafted with rugged durability in mind, able to carry all the essentials you might need for work, travel, or a weekend outdoors. The reinforced canvas, double-stitched seams, and solidly constructed handles mean you can rely on your bag to hold a generous load while maintaining shape and comfort. What is the returns policy?

Our returns policy is designed to keep things simple and straightforward. We accept returns within 14 days, as long as the item is in new, unused condition with all its original components, including buckles, straps, tags, and packaging – ready for resale. Please reach out to us first to obtain the necessary return authorisation and shipping details.

Are Cora + Spink bags vegan?

Is it vegan?

Yes – 100%. Every Cora + Spink product is completely vegan.
No animal by products. No sneaky glues or dyes. From the thread to the canvas, everything we use is plant-based, biodegradable, and cruelty-free.

So what is it made from?

Our bags are crafted from custom-woven cotton canvas, (natural rubber – if you’re this deep in the FAQ’s this is a total Easter Egg – we’re soon to release a rubber based product!) or cotton interlinings, metal fittings, and high-strength polyester stitching,  all 100% animal-free.

Why?

Plant based / natural materials are a simple concept, they’re just better than synthetics, they’re also happily and naturally vegan friendly. From durability to design, everything we make is guided by ethics, not trends. Our partners in India come from communities where vegetarian and vegan values are part of everyday life. For us, making cruelty free bags isn’t a statement,  it’s just how things should be. Plus, and the down right reality is – only natural materials age with such grace.

Animal based fabrics and fibres?

We choose not to use leather (which is the obvious one), wool, silk, or any animal-based materials, not just for animal welfare, but out of respect for the people who make our materials. Many animal-derived industries are linked to exploitative, dangerous working conditions, particularly in processing and tanning. By using plant-based fibres, we support safer, fairer livelihoods for our partners and producers. These choices also carry (slightly) less environmental impact, fewer chemicals, less waste, and a lower carbon footprint, making our products better for the planet, too.

How should I care for my Cora + Spink bag?

Caring for Your Cora + Spink Backpack

To preserve the unique character and colour of your Cora + Spink backpack, follow these gentle care instructions:

No Scrubbing

Avoid scrubbing as this can cause localised fading and colour loss. Instead, soak the entire backpack in warm to hot water with a small amount of mild detergent, allowing it time to lift any dirt naturally. Rinse thoroughly to ensure the detergent is fully removed.

Machine Washing

While hand-cleaning is best, you can use a washing machine if needed. Place the backpack inside a delicates bag or pillowcase to protect it, and select a gentle cycle with cold or warm water.

Expect Fading

The canvas is designed to evolve over time. Fading and softening are natural and contribute to the unique look of your backpack as it ages.

Hang to Dry

Are Cora + Spink bags unisex?

Cotton world.

For well over 7,000 years, cotton has been grown and cultivated by us humans, and for good reason. It’s strong, easy to work with, and has stood the test of time. Napoleon’s army used waxed cotton canvas to make weather resistant packs for marching across Europe.

Cotton has natural properties that scientists are working to replicate with synthetic fibres - for example - cotton fibres swell when wet, which tightens the weave (or knit) making the fabric repel water better.

It’s naturally breathable too, which means less sweaty back syndrome. And because it’s simple to sew, dye, and repair, cotton has long been the choice for explorers, navvies, and anyone who needs a bag that just works.
