From Delhi to Goa and up to Jaipur.
By Ayesha Bibi.
It’s in my genes to love food, colour, culture, and the natural world. After being locked up for so long, I was desperate for an expedition. So, in late March we set off on a 10 day tour…Â
My journey began in the bustling capital city of Delhi. As soon as I stepped out of the airport, I felt a wave of fear and excitement wash over me. The city was chaotic and noisy, but there was an undeniable energy that made me feel alive. The air was thick with pollution, a mix of vehicle exhaust and dust, which left a lingering taste in my mouth.
I met up with friends in Gurugram, where we explored local markets, tried mouth watering street food, and soaked in the vibrant atmosphere. The group marvelled at the contrast of ancient temples and modern skyscrapers, a beautiful testament to India’s diverse history.

Next on my itinerary was the picturesque coastal state of Goa. Swapping the cityscape for sandy beaches, I spent four sun-soaked days exploring the region’s colourful Portuguese architecture and indulging in its world-famous seafood cuisine. The salty sea breeze and the sound of crashing waves provided the perfect backdrop for my creative spirit.

From the serene shores of Goa, I embarked on my next adventure to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Known as the “Pink City,” Jaipur is a hub for artisans, offering endless inspiration for my artistic endeavours. While there, I visited the stunning Amer Fort, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal, revelling in the city’s rich history and magnificent architecture.

On my journey back to Delhi, I made a last minute visit to the Cora + Spink workshop. Since opening the new workshop Tim had been unable to make the trip out to India himself, so now was the perfect time to see how it’s going. Known for their backpacks, Cora + Spink’s commitment to holistic production resonates with my own values in life.

In the workshop, I had the opportunity to witness the creation of their unique bags firsthand. Skilled artisans worked diligently, using traditional techniques and sustainable materials to produce the beautiful and functional designs that have become synonymous with the Cora + Spink brand.

My whirlwind trip to India was a brilliant blend of culture, creativity, and colour. From the lively streets of Delhi to the picturesque beauty of Goa and the historic charm of Jaipur, my journey through India was nothing short of magical. My visit to the Cora + Spink workshop provided a unique insight into the world of sustainable fashion and craftsmanship, further fuelling my passion for creativity and art.

As I bid farewell to India, I returned to the UK with a treasure trove of memories, experiences, and a renewed appreciation for the vibrant tapestry of life. My travels served as a reminder that there’s always beauty to be found when you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the world with open arms.

In a time where travel may still feel like a distant dream for many, my journey through India reminds us of the transformative power of exploration and the importance of fostering connections between people, cultures, and places. As I share my story, I hope to inspire others to seek out their own colourful journeys, near or far, at home or abroad.

Looking back on my whirlwind adventure through India, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the incredible experiences I had and the people I met along the way. Despite the initial fear I felt upon arriving in Delhi and the overwhelming pollution that pervaded the city, the overall journey was a beautiful exploration of colour, culture, and creativity. From the mesmerizing Portuguese architecture in Goa to the inspiring artisans in Jaipur, my trip was a testament to the power of travel to open our minds and hearts to the world around us.

A small, but final delivery for 2023 has just landed. For the past 4 months we`ve been away in the shadows developing and working away to make everything we offer even better. Meaning that our actual production volume for the tail end of 2023 is less than we ideally would have liked... But means a stronger future for the workshop and us in general. In short we`ve invested heavily in raw materials that take over 4 months to make from start to finish. The investment was both in time and money, and means we will now be able to run continuous production all year around, rather than stop start as we have been for the past 3 years. In short this is much better for everyone, in business terms our accountant is happy, in practical terms we`re working to iron out the massive peaks of demand... Which puts undue pressure on everyone. If you`ve got this far well done! I`m back to the warehouse... Coraandspink.com is stocked now, shops from next week!! #frankie #hollywood #goesto #baglove #travel #sidebag #manbag #backpack #vegan #veganlife
